Michael Anthony is an amazing teacher. Unlike most teachers, he has experience with his profession in the world outside academia. In this class, you'll practice improvisation for several weeks. After that, you'll do two, two-person scenes with a partner. To finish out the semester, the most challenging assignment of the course--a monologue. You only have to write about four or five short papers, and it's a great elective to take if you're looking to fill an Area 6! It's definitely my favorite class that I've taken thus far.

I took intro to acting with Michael. Seriously, one of the best professors I've ever known....not even professor, just person in general! It was such an awesome and fun class. He's so passionate about what he does (acting) and so good at it! This class is so much fun, even if you're not into acting or scared to get up in front of a crowd, this class will teach you so much - whether it's about the film industry or speaking in front of people for a presentation. If you have an elective open, take this class with him! You'll love it!

Michaelīs class was an absolute joy. I have loved acting all of my life. I loved the improv and short plays we did in class. I especially loved going to see Lightning At Our Feet for the class. To be honest, this and World Regions were the best classes I took last semester. Also, this class pushed me to become a Theatre minor. Take this class if you love any aspect of performing. Signing, dancing and acting experience are not at all required.

Wow. Just wow. That's all I have to say about this guy. 1/3 of the course was basically "Whose line is it anyways?" type of deal (barely graded). Then we had to memorize two monologues, write about 3 pages worth of stuff and that was all the work required in this 3 credit course. Most of the time you just go to class, act out what needs to be acted out, and he gives you great pointers on basically how to bring out the inner actor in you. If you tend to get nervous in front of big presentations like I do (or even during interview) this class will be an instant cure. Easiest class EVER.
